[OPLINLIST] Pulitzer Prize Winner Julia Keller to Visit Tusc County Library on June 18

Pulitzer Prize winner Julia Keller will be visiting the New Philadelphia
location of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System on Tuesday, June 18
at 7PM. Her visit marks the second installment in the library's 2013
Visiting Author Series. 

 

Keller was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia. Her career in
journalism included posts at the Columbus Dispatch and the Chicago Daily
Tribune, where she won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing for her
coverage on the deadly Utica, Illinois, tornado outbreak. 

 

She is currently the Scripps Howard Visiting Professional at Ohio University
in Athens. She previously taught at Princeton University, Ohio State
University, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Chicago. 

 

A Killing in the Hills (Minotaur, 2012) is Keller's first piece of fiction.
In it, three elderly men are gunned down over their coffee at a local diner
in Acker's Gap, West Virginia, and seemingly half the town is there to
witness the shooting. Still, no one seems to have gotten a good look at the
shooter. Was it random? Was it connected to drug violence? Or were the three
men targeted somehow? 

 

Publisher's Weekly calls Keller's fiction debut "outstanding," while
Booklist calls it "as suspenseful and entertaining as it is accomplished." 

 

The event is free and open to the public. A book signing will follow the
author's presentation.
