[OPLINLIST] Statewide Delivery - extended contract and new pricing

In a coordinated effort with the State Library and OhioLINK, the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) has finalized an extension to the statewide delivery contract with the current delivery vendor, Priority Dispatch. The contract is for the next 2 state fiscal years, from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015. There is a price increase in the new contract and we apologize for the short notice. The total per stop cost is set for the next 2 years and is listed below for public libraries (52 week service) and school libraries (34 week service).

In the past 2 years, the state of Ohio has released 2 separate Request for Proposal's (RFPs) for statewide delivery service.  It is expected that an RFP will be released again for this service some time near the end of calendar year 2014 in advance of the next contract.

Please continue to report missed deliveries, damage, and other problems through the Customer Service Form. Libraries are entitled to reimbursement for damaged materials and the Service Forms help us to resolve issues. We greatly appreciate everyone's support and participation in this system. There is no doubt that this system requires all of us working together to package and ship millions of library items around the state. It is not easy work and we are amazed at the dedication and commitment that we see every day. State Government has placed great emphasis on cost savings and collaboration for all publicly funded programs and services.  At every opportunity, the State Library highlights the savings that are realized by Ohioans and the collaboration among libraries that this resource sharing system helps to support.
