For what its worth, here is some info about heat stress from the OSHA website.

I am not sure what the thermostat is kept at at our library. My area where the servers are on average is around 85 with the door closed and with the door open gets down to around 80. If the AC runs more it might get down to around 75 with the door open. Of course if the AC doesn't run much in the warmer months the air gets more humid. The area where I am is in a basement and has its own HVAC for the staff offices. The HVAC is about the same setup that would be in a house. The other part of the basement and main level or our library uses boiler for heat and has 2 big AC units outside. The thermostat in the staff area in the basement is typically set at between 73 and 75 before the AC kicks on. If I set it down to 65 before the AC kicks on, the temp in my area with the door open will get down to around 75.

I have a 20" box fan that blows on me to help keep me cool.

A comfortable working temperature in my opinion is around 65. I am sure some staff and patrons would think this temperature would be cold. Some staff and patrons might be happy at 70, some might be happy at 75 or even 80.
I have coworkers that are cold and wear sweaters when the temperature is around 75. Other coworkers are burning up hot when its around 72.

What temp do you keep your building on?  My circ staff is having a meltdown, literally, because I have our programmable thermostat set on 75.  Our electric bill was $200 more last month (and it wasn’t even that hot).  What do you consider a comfortable temperature, for staff and patrons?
