[cid:image009.jpg at 01D067D0.B21DA490]<http://guidingohioonline.org/>The State Library's Guiding Ohio Online<http://guidingohioonline.org/> initiative, which targets populations in rural Ohio helps Ohioans develop digital skills needed to fully participate in e-government, search and apply for jobs online, understand the risks and benefits of online financial, connect with family online, and protect personal information in the digital age.  "I recently had the opportunity to discuss this program with legislators when I presented testimony in support of the State Library's budget for Fiscal Years 2016 and 2017.  Legislators were very supportive of this program and indicated an interest in expanding the program beyond libraries serving rural populations," said State Librarian Beverly Cain.  "Legislators recognize a need to provide training to increase the digital skills of Ohioans living in all sizes and types of communities in every county of the state."

The State Library of Ohio is pleased to announce applications are now being accepted to host an AmericCorps member during the second year of the Guiding Ohio Online program.  Members will serve in selected libraries during the 2015-2016 program year. AmeriCorps members will assist libraries with computer instruction, technology-focused community outreach, hands-on help, and other technology-related duties. Program activities are primarily in the areas of workforce enhancement and digital literacy. Libraries that wish to participate in this program must provide a small matching fund to secure either a full-time AmeriCorps member (1700 hours in the 11-month term) or part-time AmeriCorps member (900 hours in the 11-month term).

Part-time: Library match is $1250.00

Full-time: Library match is $2500.00

Guiding Ohio Online AmeriCorps members serve an 11-month term, tentatively scheduled to begin in the fall of 2015. An application for libraries new to the program is available here<http://guide.webkits.oplin.org/sites/default/files/Site_application2015-2016.pdf> and an application for libraries that participated in the 2014-2015 program year and wish to reapply is available here<http://guide.webkits.oplin.org/sites/default/files/Site_application2015-2016-reapply.pdf>. Applications are due March 30th.
