Hello all!  Just a quick note to share information about two positions that
have recently become available:  

 

Library Director, Daviess County Public Library in Owensboro, KY

The Board of Trustees of the Daviess County Public Library seeks an
experienced and innovative dynamo who is responsive to community needs and
can lead a team of creative and talented staff. This vibrant Library (an
independent taxing district) serves 98,000 people with a staff of 46 FTEs, a
$4 million budget, and strong auxiliary support from the Friends and Library
Foundation. The Library circulates 750,000+ items annually and has 79,673
registered card holders.  Owensboro, KY is known as the "BBQ capital of the
world" and is located on the southern banks of the Ohio River.  The city has
received many recent awards including Nerdwallet's 'Top 100 Best Small
Cities in the Nation for 2015,' and a 2013 All-American City Award.

 

Qualifications include a Master's degree in Library Science and a minimum of
three years (seven years or more preferred) of related experience and/or
training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  The
starting salary range is established as $96,299-$110,684 and the position
closes on November 8, 2015.  

 

 

Library Director, Champaign Public Library in Champaign, IL

The Board of Trustees of the Champaign Public Library  seeks a creative and
innovative leader as its next Library Director-a leader working
strategically with staff, residents and community organizations creating a
shared vision for future library services and programs.  Since 2011, the
Library has been an annual Library Journal "four star" library.  In 2014,
the Library won the John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award for the
Library Foundation's "Show Some Library Love" campaign. With a $6.6 million
annual budget and the support of the Friends of the Library and the
Champaign Public Library Foundation, the new director and staff (69 FTEs)
will analyze community needs and recommend policies, strategies, programs
and services to provide new opportunities for community engagement.  The
Library is affiliated with the City of Champaign and the Director serves as
a member of the City's Executive Management Team.  

 

Qualifications include an ALA-accredited Master's Degree and a minimum of
five years of progressively responsible experience in library management and
supervision are required; or any combination of education and experience
that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the requirements of
the position. Successful experience working with a policy-making board and
collaborating with elected officials is highly desirable.  The starting
salary for this position is $114,055-134,016 and the position closes on
November 22.
