Thanks to everyone for their advice on becoming a passport acceptance facility.

Hopefully, all the responses are at the bottom.

Hi Mike,

For what it's worth, when I was director for Chillicothe-Ross County we looked into becoming a passport acceptance facility and were turned down. The rationale was that for the number of applications received in our area, the existing facility (the local post office) was sufficient. That was a few years ago, but just so you know that it's not necessarily a slam dunk when you apply to become a facility.

I recently came across an article about libraries becoming passport acceptance facilities. I went to the State Department website and found that there are some libraries in the state that are passport acceptance facilities. In town, the post office offers it (by appointment only) and the Morrow County Clerk of Courts (no evenings and no Saturdays). I was thinking this would be a nice service to offer since the library is open into the evenings and on Saturdays.

So for those libraries that are passport acceptance facilities, what are the pros and cons?

Thanks for any information.
