Troy-Miami County Public Library is looking for a forward-thinking, service-oriented manager with a sense of humor who is outgoing and ready to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
An employee in this position advances the mission of the library by providing library services to adults, including reference assistance, readers’ advisory, programming, community activities, and collection development and maintenance of adult materials. As a supervisor of the technical services and reference staff members, the person in this position will model high performance standards, monitor performance, and provide regular coaching and feedback. Additional responsibilities include explaining and enforcing library policies and procedures. The successful candidate will demonstrate the willingness and ability to serve as a leader and manager, and will possess excellent interpersonal, customer service, and decision-making skills.

QUALIFICATIONS
ALA accredited MLIS or currently in a program working towards a degree
Minimum of three years of professional library experience
Minimum of three years of supervisory experience preferred
Library instruction, collection development, and training experience
Knowledge of motivation and mentoring techniques and collaborative work style
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Flexible scheduling requirements, able to work some nights and weekends
Knowledge of professional library principles, methods, techniques, and procedures
Ability to complete and compute various math equations when completing reports
Ability to frequently use a keyboard, carry, hold, lift, reach, stoop, sit, turn, push and pull
Ability to operate in a network environment and to learn various integrated library system functions used in carrying out essential job responsibilities
Maintains a positive attitude and a willingness to accept change

  *   Technical Skills: The ability to perform necessary tasks, and provide assistance to patrons, using a variety of technologies.

*       Safety/Security: Observes safety and security procedures. Promptly reports potentially unsafe conditions. Operates and uses equipment and materials properly.  Satisfactory completion of background check.

*       Professional Development: Stays informed of current trends and issues. Exhibits motivation and commitment to improve work related knowledge, skills, productivity, and abilities.
