Don't miss Mary Lou Carolan, Director of Cornwall Public Library.  Mary Lou has worked to dynamically transform libraries using a blend of innovative marketing techniques, community-centered projects, storytelling, and placemaking principles.  Carolan believes public libraries need to use their unique status as trusted institutions to implement what she calls the "3i" approach - initiate, innovate and instigate - to become true community leaders.

Carolan asserts that a successful library today builds enduring relationships with school districts, collaborates and innovates with local small businesses, is a catalyst for important community conversations, and regularly connects with legislative leaders to be a voice in the decision-making process. A customer-centered library develops from knowing, engaging and fostering the interests of the community.

Participants will engage in a lively and interactive workshop:
