Digital Projects Assistant

The Special Collections Division of the Akron-Summit County Public Library is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as an independent contractor to fill a Digital Projects Assistant position through the end of 2019. This temporary position will not exceed 400 hours total and must be completed by the end of 2019.

Requirements: Knowledge about and experience with: digital scanning, basic Photoshop or a similar image editing tool, Dublin Core Standard, and digital exhibits. Demonstrated writing and research skills, particularly in the area of local history, are required.

The Digital Project Assistant will work with CONTENTdm software to build and publish collections to the Library’s Digital Exhibit website, Summit Memory<https://cdm17124.contentdm.oclc.org/>, (https://cdm17124.contentdm.oclc.org/), a collaborative digital collections project documenting the history of Summit County, Ohio. The Assistant will be responsible for editing digital images, researching image context, writing thorough metadata and uploading content for a digital exhibit. Prior CONTENTdm experience not required.

The successful candidate will be paid at a rate of $14.00 per hour based on submitted invoices.
