A Note from the Executive Director, Betsy Lantz
[https://neo-rls.org/photos/59194_02102020090245.jpg]All types of libraries in our region, in Ohio, and in the US, have been busy coming up with new and creative ways to serve their students, their faculty and their communities. Our webpage of Online Programming Resources <https://www.neo-rls.org/online_programming_resources.php> continues to grow daily and libraries are getting positive press on a regular basis as they help others through the pandemic crisis. Thinking about all that is going on here made me wonder what libraries in other parts of the world were doing. As it turns out, libraries everywhere are working hard to provide access to their collections and services digitally. Across Malaysia, a #LetsReadTogether campaign encouraged people to read more online. Granby Library in Quebec, Canada is highlighting content focused on learning new skills. The Ghana Library Authority is promoting its digital content along with key health information. Kota Public Library in India is using bibliotherapy as a way of helping users through the crisis. In Portugal there is a focused YouTube channel for online storytimes. The library in Monash, Australia is providing storytimes for speakers of minority languages and in Serbia, a librarian from the National Library of Pozega is doing online storytimes that have been featured in the national news. Libraries in Greece are running art projects for their users and libraries in Huesca, Spain have developed training materials for users to help them learn more about digital tools. Many libraries are providing free eBooks or allowing users the ability to borrow an increased number of eBooks such as the National Library of Morocco and the libraries in Denmark. Libraries in the Netherlands have developed a new app with free content. In Kenya, the Kibera and Nakuru public libraries are promoting local language content about COVID-19 through social networks and via book recommendations. A variety of libraries in Estonia, Turkey, Morocco and Belgium have opened up their content to unregistered users. In academic libraries there are also efforts to provide online access through call-in hours at Rhodes University, South Africa, remote access to librarians at the Abgu Papazian University Library in Armenia and online book requests at the East-West University in Bangladesh. It is amazing to see how quickly and creatively libraries worldwide have been able to develop new models for serving their communities. If you'd like to read more about what libraries are doing worldwide, visit the IFLA <https://www.ifla.org/covid-19-and-libraries#services> website. We really are all in this together! Please take good care and stay well!

Newest Tapas Learning Video
Welcome to our second NEO-RLS Tapas Learning video: short, sharable lessons about library services. Tawnee Isner from the Kinsman Free Public Library explains how she came up with her Snack Chats videos and how she used them to connect in an unique and approachable way with her community. Newest Resource Page
Now that reopening is a possibility, NEO-RLS has put together a new webpage, Resources for Reopening Our Libraries <https://bit.ly/ResourcestoReopenOurLibs> . We hope this information will help you reopen safely and confidently. Information will be updated continually and we welcome any suggestions that you have regarding sources of needed PPE, etc. Please note: Sources listed have been suggested by libraries in our region. Their inclusion does not imply endorsement by NEO-RLS of the product, process, service, or its producer or provider.

Collaborative Summer Library Program
The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) has created and just released an additional resource packet for libraries to use as they re-imagine their summers.
This free resource includes ideas from current and past CSLP manuals that have been adapted in order to be used straight from the pages or altered for your particular needs. It contains six weeks of content highlighting early literacy, children, teens, adults, and families. The materials are divided by age group. They are designed to be distributed directly to patrons as printed packets, or online, in a way that works best for your library. All activities provided are intended for patrons to do at home and are little to no cost.

The resource also contains ideas and tips for libraries about outreach, partnerships and collaboration, incentives, and summer meals. Download the new additional resource packet at https://www.cslpreads.org/.

New questions for the 2020 Public Library Report
The State Library of Ohio will be adding several new questions to the 2020 Public Library Report (collected in early 2021) related to the COVID-19 pandemic and how Ohio’s libraries responded and continued to serve their patrons during this crisis. This list will likely evolve with input from the library community and as things continue to change in the state.

Online Programming Database for Ohio Public Libraries
In the interest of consolidating ideas, OPLIN has put together an Online Programming Database for Ohio public libraries. While there is already an online calendar <https://library.ohio.gov/public-covid19-programs/> of such programs (thanks to the State Library!), there was not a repository of ideas and directions for such programs for library staff to pull from.
We've put such a database together, but right now it's completely empty of data! We need your help, to submit your ideas and programs for virtual programs. Can you please help us (and your Ohio colleagues) out?
