[OPLINLIST] Fwd: Ancestry Library Edition and Heritage Quest Online Usage

The Ancestry and HeritageQuest stats, which are frequently "off" in
mysterious ways, are verifiably off. See below. I am told the error does
not affect African-American Heritage or Fold3 stats.

Before the annual public library stats collection commences next month, I
will consult with the State Library about how we might adjust the statewide
counts.

Library Edition and Heritage Quest Online. Last June, Ancestry was making
some upgrades to the image viewer that would improve the security of the
content, make content more accessible, reduce down time and improve
response time when returning search results. During this upgrade, an error
occurred with how page views were being counted with this image viewer.
Unfortunately, this issue persisted until January 19, 2021, and the usage
data (page views) has been permanently lost. After analysis, Ancestry
estimates that actual usage was roughly double what the reported statistics
indicate during this period (June 2020 – January 19, 2021). Ancestry has
reviewed the situation and will put monitoring in place so that issues can
be addressed in a more timely fashion.

We sincerely apologize for this issue. If you have questions about your
usage statistics, please do not hesitate to contact your Account Manager.
