IT Manager Of Infrastructure Services (Full-time)
Salary Range: $87,527.30 - $131,331.20 Annually
Purpose of the job: Leads and manages technology staff in order to achieve stated library goals and objectives. Analyzes Information Technology (IT) architecture requirements and ensures stability of the IT infrastructure. Drives architecture designs related to network, telecommunications, backup/recovery, virtualization, systems engineering, cloud, security, identity management, business continuity & disaster recovery (DR) environments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  1.  Assists IT Director in developing technology strategy and direction. Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
  2.  Manages, plans and directs staff to deliver application and infrastructure projects and initiatives consistent with the IT vision and strategy.
  3.  Responsible for projects through conception, execution, and closure. Includes working with strategic partners to deliver services in alignment with the library's strategic and technology plans.
  4.  Provides architecture leadership and direction to team around various technologies.
  5.  Drives departmental procedures for backup/recovery, business continuance & disaster recovery (DR) architectures.
  6.  Leads discussions across all library business units to ensure projects align with business strategy and IT capabilities and direction.
  7.  Presents, communicates, and effectively manages expectations regarding project strategies and key decisions within project teams to all levels of the organization.
  8.  Manages IT infrastructure team, influencing design, estimation, and technical direction of assigned projects and initiatives.
  9.  Develops, coaches, and trains staff. Sets individual performance measurements for staff and holds them accountable. Responsibilities include managing, hiring, orientating, and evaluating.
  10. Utilizes industry standards, practices and processes for delivery of services and support library staff and customers. Regularly reports on team performance.
  11. Communicates with library departments for project milestones, service level agreements, targets, resource allocation commitments, and ensures that they are met.
  12. Ensures library data is secured and protected through proper security measures and business continuity practices.
  13. Works with IT peers to ensure architectural compliance between various systems. Utilizes change management and quality assurance practices to ensure the integrity of production systems.
  14. Oversees day-to-day operations of technology functions and staff. Monitors incidents and problems to ensure timely restoration of service. Develops and delivers reports detailing performance of library technology systems.
  15. Performs additional duties as assigned including serving on task forces, committees, etc. Attends local, state and national conferences or meetings as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1.  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
  2.  Three to five years' progressively more responsible experience in technical operations management, information processing at the management level, including experience in developing information architecture and project management.
  3.  Experience working within enterprise high-availability production environments.
  4.  Extensive experience with network routing and switching products.
  5.  Deep understanding of IT security policies and firewall technologies.
  6.  3 + years' knowledge in architecting key technology solutions in the following areas: network, telecommunications, backup/recovery, virtualization, systems engineering, cloud, security, identity management, business continuity & disaster recovery (DR).
  7.  Demonstrated knowledge of technology environments, including server, storage, workstation and network infrastructure, application development environments, database platforms, service desk function and end-user support.
  8.  Working technical knowledge of network and server operating systems including familiarity with client-server technology in a Microsoft Windows environment, Exchange E-mail server, SharePoint, SQL Database Server, storage systems, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
  9.  Highly motivated team player that is proactive and possesses the ability to meet deadlines, negotiate conflicts, take initiative, assume project responsibility and prioritize work under pressure.
  10. Ability to effectively present in a variety of formal settings: one on one, group, peers, direct reports, etc. Command attention and manage group process.
  11. Knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information in the IT industry and field.
  12. Can inspire and motivate entire units of the organization, ability to communicate a compelling and inspired vision as well as a sense of purpose.
  13. Motivates staff to perform by providing challenging and stretching assignments, discusses career aspirations and development opportunities, creates plans and builds up acceptance and success.
  14. Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e. Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job related equipment and systems.
  15. Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements
