A Note from the Executive Director
[http://neo-rls.org/photos/77535_07122021102302.jpg]Last week was one of those weeks - the kind where you think it can’t get much worse than the toilet overflowing all over the only restroom in the office – but it can and did!  In the midst of everything going on and things going wrong, I was doing a bit of research and happened upon a quiz from the Oxford University Press called, “ Which library matches your personality <https://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=52988043&nr=5834112405> ?”  Needing a bit of whimsy and a moment to put everything into perspective, I decided to spend a minute taking the quiz.  It’s a super short quiz (7 multiple choice questions) and it links you up with libraries all over the world.  My quiz resulted in a match with the Stuttgart (Germany) City Library.  The person at OUP who put out the information was matched up to The New York Public Library.  If you need a bit of fun to start your week, take a minute to see what library you match up with. LOOK FOR YOUR NEO-RLS 2022-2023 LETTER OF INTENT IN OCTOBER
It’s almost October and that means we will be sending out our 2022-2023 (July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023) Letters of Intent.  You should receive them via email between October 1st and 5th.   This year we have created a fillable form for your convenience.  Our fiscal year runs from July-June and as a result, we begin planning our budget in January.  We ask for your assistance with this by returning your Letter of Intent prior to December 31, 2021.  Your membership is important to us and to the libraries in our region.  Without you, we are unable to provide a robust schedule of continuing education opportunities and other services.  With you, we are maximizing library potential!  Thank you!
WHAT INFORMATION CAN I GET FROM THE STATEWIDE SALARY SURVEY AND CODA?
The survey reports salary information for approximately 97 job titles with 162 libraries participating.  Using CODA, the online reporting tool, you can search for data using a variety of “cuts.”  Want to look at the data from the participating libraries in your region (NEO-RLS, NORWELD, SERLS, or SWON)?  You can do that!  Want to look at the data from all of the participating libraries in your revenue band?  You can do that!  Want to look at your library compared to a specific participating library?  You can do that too!  CODA allows a high degree of flexibility for leveraging the data. Applications for the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) Mentoring Program <https://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=53005151&nr=5834112405> have opened. This program connects children’s services professionals together for approximately 10 months to help them build peer-taught skills, make connections, and increase familiarity with ALSC’s Core Competencies. The program is supported by ALSC’s Managing Children’s Services Committee, the ALSC Membership Committee, and staff.

The American Library Association is seeking information about the library experience with the FCC's Emergency Connectivity Fund program. If your library applied for ECF funding, strongly considered applying but did not apply, or is considering applying in the second application window (September 28- October 13) please fill out this short survey  docs.google.com/forms/d/e/... <https://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=53003929&nr=5834112405> . Responses are anonymous and it should take less than 10 minutes to fill it out. ALA will use the aggregated data in their advocacy efforts with the FCC to seek improvements to the ECF program.
