A Note From the Executive Director
[http://neo-rls.org/photos/92382_06292022072448.jpg]I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to work in libraries over the course of the past 35 years and even more fortunate to have worked with many amazing people. My path to librarianship and throughout my career was never a straight path but one filled with unexpected opportunities, often at what seemed like less than optimal moments. Taking the position at NEO-RLS was one such unexpected opportunity. Without me knowing it at the time, the position turned out to have all of the elements necessary to become my dream job. It came with an expert, creative, dedicated, caring, and fun team in the form of Debbie Blair, Melissa Lattanzi, Ragan Snead, Holly Klingler, and Rachelle Perry. It came with Board Trustees, Committee and Advisory Group members, all equally invested in providing their expertise, their commitment to staff development, their time and their creativity, to make the organization relevant and sustainable. It came with challenges that allowed me to use my particular skill set and then enjoy the results of overcoming the challenges. And, it came with the opportunity to meet, get to know, listen to, and learn from - all of you, our members! It has been an absolute joy to be a part of what is happening in the libraries within our region and to witness the innovations, the creativity, and the impact on your communities. I have been humbled on a regular basis by all that is being accomplished and I thank you for including me. I’m looking forward to retirement and leave with confidence, knowing that NEO-RLS is strong and the future filled with exciting possibilities. Together we are maximizing library potential! Have a great rest of your week!
