MidPointe Library, Library Associate – Part Time – Middletown Ohio
This opening is eligible for a conditional $1,200 Hiring Bonus!

Do you enjoy helping people find what they need or give computer assistance to help someone find a job?


If so, as a library associate, you’ll provide friendly, helpful customer service to the diverse population at the two service desks, and occasionally at the call center, by answering questions and explaining library policies and procedures, give reading recommendations, creating library cards, and accepting passport applications. You’ll also assist with various tasks and projects, use the automated conveyor belt check in system, process holds and reserves; sort; shelve; shelf read; and pull holds; and use lists to pull materials. As a member of the public service team, you’ll work independently, as well as work with co-workers.

To Be Successful, you will need to:

  *   Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  *   Be a U.S. citizen for passport duties.
  *   Have excellent customer service skills, a strong service ethic, and excellent problem-solving skills.
  *   Be friendly, approachable, and provide a positive library experience to patrons.
  *   Have a good knowledge of literature that appeals to children, teens, and adults.
  *   Efficiently and accurately comprehend, follow, and implement library policies and procedures.
  *   Need to be able to respond quickly and favorably to new or changed responsibilities and/or situations, be able to prioritize and handle confidential information.
  *   Be able to effectively problem solve and manage frequent interruptions.
  *   Have computer experience that includes MS Office, the Internet, and ideally the library catalog and research databases.
  *   Must be able to learn new skills as the library evolves and changes.
  *   Be able to operate equipment such as cash registers, copiers, computers, printers, and scanners.
  *   Be able to effectively speak, listen, read (including cursive), and understand English.
  *   Be able to learn and carry out the responsibilities of the position.
  *   Regular and predictable physical attendance is required.


Hours:

20 hours per week with a schedule of:

Week One: Mon and Tues 3:00 - 8:00 pm, Fri and Sat 12:00 - 5:00 pm

Week Two: Sun 12:00 - 5:00 pm, Mon and Tues 3:00 - 8:00 pm, Fri 12:00 - 5:00 pm



Rate of Pay:

The pay range is $12.26 - $18.13 per hour; the pay rate depends on experience.

Physical Requirements:

-Must have the ability to move book crates that could weigh up to 75 pounds when full and move book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds when full.

-Must have manual dexterity & visual acuity as needed for the position.

-Must be able to work in areas in areas that may contain cleaning odors, dust, or other possible allergens.
