The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County<https://www.libraryvisit.org/> (OH) seeks a Business and Finance Librarian to provide informational support to our community's businesses as well as promote financial literacy and small business development.  This Librarian is responsible for overseeing the Library's business and financial literacy services and promoting reading and lifelong learning by planning and conducting programs both in the library and off-site.



Responsibilities. (1) Serves as a liaison to businesses, community groups, non-profits, professional organizations and other parties having interests in the areas of business, business development, entrepreneurship, investment, financial literacy and other related areas. (2) Assisting and instructing customers in the use of library resources. (3) Planning, developing and conducting business related programs within and outside the Library, as well as active participation in community engagement initiatives in this subject specialty. (4) Collection development routines pertaining to business and financial literacy services. (5) Training/orientation of librarians about business and financial literacy services and resources.



Qualifications.  Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, Business Administration or other business-related field is required. Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of knowledge, competence and interest in business, business development, entrepreneurship, investment, financial literacy and other related areas. Superior skills and working knowledge of traditional and electronic reference sources, especially those of the Business & Investment Center, including effective and efficient searching strategies. Demonstrable aptitude for providing live online reference service and information related to all areas of business. Above average organizational skills to keep work current; excellent attention to detail. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills required. Must be outgoing and courteous with a strong commitment to service excellence. Strong commitment to professional development, embedded librarianship, community engagement and outreach.



Work Schedule.  Full-time, non-exempt position. Availability for extended or non-traditional hours as needed to perform job duties.  Participation and attendance at promotional events and off-site meetings required. Requires regular travel to other library branches, and community meetings as needed.



Compensation.  Starting rate of $21.35/hour with an excellent fringe benefit package including a pension plan with the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
