MidPointe Library - Library Associate – Part Time – West Chester, Ohio
This opening is eligible for a conditional $1,200 Hiring Bonus for a limited time only!
We have an opening for a customer-oriented associate who likes to help people in a busy office-type environment at our West Chester Library. To thrive in this environment, you don't need library experience, we can teach you!
Do you enjoy helping people in a busy, active atmosphere as you assist them with what they are looking for?
If so, as a library associate, your days would be a mix of providing excellent customer service at one of the service desks by answering questions; giving reading recommendations; providing computer & printer assistance; creating library cards; accepting passport applications; assisting patrons with check in and check out; giving instruction on how to use the online card catalog, the Internet, print station, e-reader tablets, library research databases, & other digital resources. You'll also process holds & reserves; look up materials; sort; shelve; shelf read; pull holds; & use lists to pull materials. As a member of the public services team, you'll work independently & work with co-workers.
MidPointe is located on the east side of Butler County, Ohio in a vibrant, dynamic, diverse community that enjoys community support. To Be Successful, you will need to:
* Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
* Must be a U.S. citizen for passport duties
* Must be friendly, approachable, and provide a positive library experience to patrons.
* Must have excellent customer service, a strong service ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, and adapt rapidly to change.
* Must have computer experience that includes MS Office and the Internet.
* Need to be able to independently (and with others), quickly, and favorably respond to new or changed responsibilities and/or situations, and be able to prioritize and handle confidential information.
* Have a good knowledge of literature that appeals to children, teens, and adults.
* Must be able to learn and carry out the essential responsibilities of the position.
* Must be able to effectively read (including cursive), write, speak, and understand English.
* Regular and predictable physical attendance is required
Hours:
20 hours per week on a 2-week rotating schedule of:
Week One: Sun off; Mon off; Tues, Wed & Thurs
3 -8 PM; Fri off; Sat 12 – 5 PM
Week Two: Sun 12:15 - 5:15 PM; Mon & Tues 3-8 PM; Wed & Thurs off; Fri 12-5 PM; Sat off.
Rate of Pay:
The pay range is $12.26 – $18.13 per hour, the pay rate depends on experience.

Physical Requirements:
-Must have the ability to move book crates that could weigh up to 75 pounds when full and move book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds when full.
-Must be able to work in areas that may contain cleaning odors, dust or other possible allergens.
-Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate library equipment including the conveyor belt check-in system.
