MidPointe Library – Public Services Supervisor – Full Time–Middletown Ohio



Our Middletown branch has an opening where you can use your customer service and supervisory skills to help our diverse community.

Your day would include ensuring that the public services team provides excellent customer service to all patrons by overseeing, monitoring & participating in the daily public service operations at the adult & children's service points inside the library. You'll oversee the branch outreach programming that meets the needs of all ages in the community. Your supervisory duties will include scheduling the team; conducting staff meetings; complete performance evaluations; motivate, inspire, coach; delegate & assign projects; & make recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, training & development, discipline; & terminations. Library duties will include supervising the branch passport operations & maintain your own passport agent credentials; evaluate returned materials for damage & missing pieces & communicate with patrons; resolve patron complaints; compile statistics; basic equipment troubleshooting; and provide backup supervision of the call center.

To Be Successful, you will need:

  *   Must have a bachelors degree, a ALA accredited MLS degree is highly desired.
  *   Have a minimum of 2 years prior supervisory experience in a customer service industry.
  *   Minimum 3 years prior library experience with increasing levels of responsibility is highly desired.
  *   Must be a U.S. citizen for passport duties.
  *   Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record, & continuous insurability on the library's insurance.
  *   Supervisory skills such as motivating; employment interviewing & selection; performance assessments; training; coaching & disciplining, are needed.
  *   Leadership skills needed include commitment, passion, integrity, decisiveness, vision, managerial competence & top-notch communication.
  *   The ability to prioritize; manage multiple tasks & frequent interruptions; maintain composure & handle confidential information is required.
  *   Must have excellent computer skills that includes MS Office, the Internet, & ideally library catalog skills.
  *   The ability to learn & understand basic to complex principles & techniques as well as have the ability to comprehend, interpret, & apply policy, procedures, & practices to carry out the responsibilities of the position is needed.
  *   Must be able to effectively read (including cursive), write, speak, & understand English.
  *   Regular & predictable physical attendance is required.

Rate of Pay:

The pay range for this job is $20.96 – $36.30. The pay rate depends on experience.


Hours:

40 hours per week with a varying schedule that includes days, evenings, and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to use library conveyor belt machinery and do basic troubleshooting

-Must be able to work in areas with disinfectant odors, as well as areas that may contain dust or other possible allergens

-Must have the ability to move crates that could weigh up to 75 pounds when full, and move book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds

-Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate library equipment
