Youth Services Assistant
Full-time, Salaried $37,440/year


The Youth Services Assistant is an essential part of the library's programming team as they assist in the preparation and execution of many programs and services for youth. Using a variety of tools and applications, the Youth Services Assistant's day is rarely ever the same. Under the guidance of a team librarian, the Assistant may be tasked to create & edit graphic media, recommend great reads (and listens), answer questions, visit outreach sites, creatively solve problems, perform in-person and virtual Storytime, contribute content for media, or generally help to keep everything and everyone organized. Some days are quietly dressed up in a recording studio and other days are a loud dusty mess; and every day is go, go, go!

The desired candidate will have experience working with youth, know their way around organizational apps, have experience with creating and editing digital media and must have a valid Ohio driver's license with an insurable record to drive the library's outreach vehicle. Since many library programs happen on evenings and weekends, the Youth Services Assistant must work approximately one Saturday a month and every Thursday evening.  The ideal candidate will sometimes be responsible for opening or closing the library and attending events outside their normal schedule which would rarely begin before 9am.

Candidates with public library and customer service experience are preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is an absolute must. The successful candidate will earn $37,440/year and need to pass a criminal background check along with other screenings as required for employment. The Youth Services Assistant would expect to work 40 hours per week, serve as a substitute for coworkers when needed and attend special community functions and library events. As a full-time position the Youth Services Assistant would receive a monthly stipend to purchase healthcare and would enjoy paid time off for designated holidays, vacation, and sick hours.
