DEI Manager - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Salary Range: $73,070.40 - $113,963.20 annually
Purpose of Job:
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Manager works to cultivate a supportive and inclusive work environment for all CML employees and customers. This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all administrative matters relating to DEI activities and initiatives. This includes leading organization-wide DEI projects, ranging from communications, training, and outreach to DEI related committees and employee resource groups (ERGs), assistance with and supporting other CML teams on internal and external DEI activities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  1.  Works collaboratively on organizational priorities, including playing an integral role in implementing and leading CML's ongoing DEI efforts.
  2.  Coordinates projects around action items detailed in the DEI action plan.
  3.  Research, develops and recommends creative strategies to achieve annual DEI goals.
  4.  Collaborates with the Employee Engagement and Development Manager to review and preview annual DEI training opportunities to ensure alignment with organizational values and strategic focus.
  5.  Collaborates with the Employee Engagement and Development Manager to create and facilitate DEI training. Seeks and maintains external partnerships for such work.
  6.  In collaboration with the CDO and the Marketing and Communications team, coordinates efforts between the Heritage Culture Committee and other internal DEI teams, task forces, and work groups.
  7.  Leads and supports the work of the Libraries' Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
  8.  Manages ERGs to include oversight of the ERG application process and participation forms.
  9.  Works with HRIS to create and implement metrics, monitoring, and reporting systems to benchmark organizational progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  10. Analyzes statistical data to assess where the employee population stands concerning hiring, retention, and promotional opportunities.
  11. Creates quarterly reports to update all staff and the Board of Trustees on DEI progress and activities.
  12. Assists Talent Acquisition with the implementation of tactics to attract underrepresented groups in our candidate pool and assists with recruitment and retention efforts.
  13. Assists and supports supervisors in leading monthly DEI discussions for staff.
  14. Helps to encourage and foster internal networking opportunities for staff members, to include seeking developmental opportunities.
  15. Identifies, partners, and builds effective collaboration with external partners.
  16. Stays current on DEI trends and best practices.
  17. Builds and maintains relationships with vendors and cross-departmental teams to ensure quality products and programs.
  18. Performs additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  1.  Bachelor's Degree from a college or university in Organizational Development, Human Resources, or similar field required.
  2.  At least 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience supporting diversity, equity, and accessibility.
  3.  Adept at project management; knows how to lead and organize people and activities.
  4.  Knowledge of best practices related to workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies and outcomes required; professional experience in DEI or HR preferred.
  5.  Ability to effectively present in a variety of settings and audiences. Command attention and manage group facilitation.
  6.  Strong technical ability and creative thinker.
  7.  Understands the origin and reasoning behind the organization's key policies, practices, and procedures.
  8.  Ability to relate well and build appropriate rapport and relationships with people at all levels of the organization.
  9.  Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and complete projects successfully
  10. Ability to operate library technology, including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e., Windows/Microsoft Office), and other job-related equipment and systems.
  11. Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignments and other locations per job requirements.
  12. Ability to attend night and/or weekend events, as needed.
