MidPointe Library – Library Specialist – Full Time – Liberty Township, Ohio
We have a full-time opening at our unique
Liberty Township branch located in the Liberty Center Mall!
Do you enjoy reading a story to children, or planning & presenting a program to teens or adults? If so, as a library specialist, you'll create, prepare & present educational, cultural, or library-oriented programs & story times, to all ages with a primary focus on youth that are lively, entertaining, & engage the participant. Your day would also include providing customer service at the desk; giving reading recommendations; accepting passport applications; providing computer & printer assistance. You'll also process holds & reserves, sort, & shelve. At times, you would be assigned special projects & tasks, as well as create & maintain community partnerships through visits & participating in special events.
MidPointe is located on the east side of Butler County, Ohio in a vibrant, dynamic, diverse community that enjoys community support. Nestled between Cincinnati and Dayton, the county has a wide variety of schools, entertainment, dining experiences, sports, and cultural events. We have something for everyone!
To Be Successful, you will need to:
* Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Some college is desired.
* Have Ohio drivers' license with an acceptable motor vehicle record & be insurable on the library's insurance.
* Bilingual Spanish/English language is highly desired as we are expanding bilingual programs & events.
* Provide evidence of U.S. citizenship for passport duties.
* Have prior experience creating, preparing & presenting programs, story times, & events for youth and families.
* Be friendly, approachable, & provide a positive library experience to patrons of all ages.
* Excellent customer service, problem solving, teamwork, interpersonal & communication skills, respond favorable to change & a strong service ethic are needed.
* Need the ability to maintain composure when responding to a variety of library problems & unpredictable circumstances.
* Must have excellent computer experience using MS Office, the Internet, e-reader tablets, research databases, the library catalog, and be able to give instruction on library equipment.
* Have an excellent knowledge of all literature, particularly youth literature.
* Be able to read (including cursive), write, speak & understand English. Fluency in Spanish is highly desired.

Must have regular physical attendance as required.
Hours:
40 hours a week includes days, evenings, & weekends. A rotating 2-week sample schedule is:
Week 1: Mon, Wed & Fri 10:15am-7:15pm; Tues & Thurs 9:30am-6:30pm.
Week 2: Mon, Tues, Wed & Sat 10:15am-7:15pm; Thurs 10:15-7:15pm.
Rate of Pay:
The pay range is $16.50 – $26.25, the pay rate depends on experience.

Physical Requirement:
-Must have the ability to move book crates weighing up to 75 pounds & move book carts that could weigh up to 200 pounds when full.
-Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate library equipment.
-Must be able to work in areas that may contain cleaning odors, dust, or other possible allergens.
