Are you looking for more ways to make your library more inclusive? Join us on Friday, November 20, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for a day of networking and training. Attendees will have the option to attend in-person at Bexley Public Library (2411 East Main Street, Bexley, Ohio. 43209) or virtually over Zoom. 1:15-2:15: AAC in Action: Supporting patrons with Complex Communication Needs
Presented by Kelsey Drifmeyer of Boone County Public Library
Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) includes tools and strategies people use to communicate when thy cannot rely on speech alone, from gestures and signs to picture boards and speech-generating devices. This session will explore practical ways to support AAC users during reference transactions, incorporate AAC into existing in-house and outreach storytimes, and plan specialized AAC storytimes. Participants will also have the opportunity to see and explore a variety of AAC tools firsthand, including low-, mid-, and high-tech systems.

2:30-3:30: Introduction to Adaptive Books
Presented by Courtney Walker of Libraries for All
Courtney Walker, founder and principal consultant for Libraries for All LLC will provide an introduction to adaptive books--what they are, their target audience, and the benefits as well as how libraries can incorporate them into their collection for circulation and use.
