Office of Information Technology Customer Update – June 25, 2004

 

 

Firewall Outage on June 25, 2004:

 

Customers Affected:  RSC, Governor’s Office, Mental Health, Commerce

 

Outage Start:             Approximately 8:15am

 

Outage Stop:               Approximately 10:55am

 

Cause:                        Wall1 was affected by the W32/Korgo that attempts to exploit a buffer overflow vulnerability in the Windows Local Security Authority Service Server (LSASS). 

 

Wall2’s outage was caused by our attempts to resolve the issue with Wall1.  There was an OSPF configuration issue which caused Mental Health’s primary and backup firewall connections to fail.
