[OPLINTECH] surge protector question

Hello.

I had a retired engineer suggest that I recommend a minimum joules (spelling?) level when describing surge protectors in an intro computer class.  I haven't had much luck finding any suggestions.  Do any of you IT experts have any advice?  Thank you.
