[OPLINTECH] surge protector question

Dawn,

Joules is spelled correctly. It is a rating of Energy absorption/dissipation. This rating tells you how much energy the surge protector can absorb before it fails. A higher number indicates greater protection. Look for a protector that is at least rated at 200 to 400 joules. For better protection, look for a rating of 600 joules or more.

Note: the above is my opinion only and may or may not reflect the views of the OPLIN Support Center.

Hello.

I had a retired engineer suggest that I recommend a minimum joules (spelling?) level when describing surge protectors in an intro computer class. I haven't had much luck finding any suggestions. Do any of you IT experts have any advice? Thank you.
