Chad -
You're right about needing Reverse DNS for sending email to AOL, we ran
into the same thing for several of our libraries that had email-based
holds notices bouncing when sent to AOL.
To make it more interesting you need to have not only a reverse entry
for your mail server, but if you're using a second SMTP server to send
the emails you also need a PTR entry for the public source IP address
that is sending the email message. So you may find that you really need
several reverse pointers based on firewall setup or if you're sending
emails from an ILS or other application located on a different server.
Hope that this is helpful -
Brad

Subject: [OPLINTECH] Reverse DNS Entry
Hello,
We are running a public e-mail server and require a reverse DNS
entry (ptr record) in order to send e-mails to AOL. It appears that we
need this entry to be set by the owner of the IP address range (Oplin).
The IP address in question is 66.213.68.6.
Thank you,
