Some good general advice when shopping for MP3 players (particularly for =
library use) are to:
Look for players that support DRM (digital rights management). The =
easiest way to do this is look for players that sport Microsoft's "Plays =
for Sure" logo. This logo asserts that the player will fully support =
Microsoft's secure WMA format...a popular format for audio books. More =
info about this can be had by pointing your browser to: =
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/playsforsure/default.aspx
Look for a player with plenty (ideally 1 GB or larger) of storage, =
or that uses a removable media (such as compact flash or mmc cards) and =
can use cards that are this large.
Avoid the Apple line of players...they are the most popular ones out =
there and are fine technically, but unfortunately they do not support =
secure WMA. Apple uses their own flavor of DRM that is not compatible =
with the Windows version.
With these tips in mind, some reputable brands include Rio, Creative =
Labs, and IRiver. =20

Greetings! The London Public Library is looking at purchasing a MP3 =
player to begin the process of evaluating e-books in audio format. I =
can check Consumer Reports and all that jazz, so what I'm looking for is =
your opinion on any products that you have come across (good/bad). As =
always, your input is greatly appreciated and well utilized!

Sincerely,
