[OPLINTECH] Bookmobile connectivity

I think you can always get in now... plus if say you needed to kick off a
session you could use the "-console" command line switch and log in as
administrator. Then use task manager to log off the users that cannot get
back in if that should happen for some reason.

Kyle,
Do remember when you could lock yourself out of a server if you couldn't get
back into the remote session? I think that was Windows 2000.
Is that still an issue? (we have had this setup and running for quite some
time - it is pretty stable)
If it isn't an issue, we could move these users to an older server in the
future.

I like the VP/RDPN as well personally... then as Morgan stated.. You can
leave your ILS session open even if the connection drops in transit between
stops. As a side note... if you have a server that is not used very much
with RDP for management, and say you have two pcs on your bookmobile, you
can take advantage of the two allowed connections to Windows server for
"administrative use" and not have to purchase terminal server licenses...
or configure VNC or anything since RDP is already available on Windows
machines...

We find it much easier to do a remote desktop connection via VPN to pc
behind our firewall in the same building as the ILS server.
Dropped connections are handled better on a pc vs a server with RDP - at
least for us.
We have some iffy areas of connection in the county and this seems to work
fairly well.
We do use Verizon aircards purchased through our government representative.
The local store stopped doing demo models without a restocking fee just over
a year ago.

Things I would look at:
* Does your ILS require a fixed IP
* Is the upload speed fast enough for live circ
* Are there dead zones where you would drop to modem speed
Just some thoughts

If you want to connect more than one computer you might want to check out
Mifi also.
