I want to remind everyone that the Form 470 E-rate workshop this year may be pretty important to you. As Mandy noted in her earlier message (below) there are changes this year in the way the free and reduced lunch program is calculated, with the advent of the new Community Eligibility Option (CEO) for schools. I encourage you to register to attend Lorrie's workshop at one of the locations around the state on November 15.

Subject: [OPLINTECH] eRate workshop--Nov 15
As you may know, eRate is the discount or rebate that libraries and schools can receive on telecommunication and internet services based on poverty in their area as indicated by the free and reduced school lunch program. This workshop is the first of two on how to fill out the necessary forms for this discount/rebate. If you’re on the fence as to whether to attend this year, be aware that Ohio is changing how the free and reduced lunch program is calculated. If you have questions about what qualifies for eRate, please see this list of Eligible Services for FY 2013 http://transition.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Business/2012/db0928/DA-12-1553A2.pdf

Additionally, any eRate request that includes Priority 2 services must include a certified technology plan. Even if your eRate request doesn’t include a Priority 2 request, it’s helpful to have a plan in place to support future growth. To help support you in these efforts, I’m having two webinars on technology planning:
Plain and Simple: Technology Planning for E-Rate

I understand that this can be an intimidating process; please let me know what questions you have or how else I can be of assistance.
