I hope this cold day is treating you well. I'm excited to let you know about a webinar next week on managed wireless services also known as managed wifi. I know many of you have been contacted by vendors about this type of service recently. This is a good opportunity to get your questions answered:

The FCC's E-Rate Modernization Order has added funding for "Managed Internal Broadband Service," with particular emphasis on increasing the managed Wi-Fi capacity for libraries. What is managed Wi-Fi? Do you need it in your library? This webinar, hosted by OPLIN and the State Library and presented by Joe Prchlik, Director of Operations and Technology at the Northwest Ohio Computer Association, will provide information that may help answer those questions. While OPLIN manages external broadband service for public libraries, managing local internal broadband services can help libraries keep pace with increasing Internet demands and provide valuable data about patron usage, and in many cases can leverage existing infrastructure to provide consistent quality network services for patrons.
