The Akron-Summit County Public Library is looking for qualified candidates to serve the role of ILS Specialist.


JOB TITLE:     INTEGRATED LIBRARY SYSTEM SPECIALIST

LOCATION:    ADMINISTRATION

HOURS:         Full-time (37.5 hours), not job-share eligible

SALARY:        Grade 14, $24.79/hour

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Responsible for the operation, ongoing development, and support of the Library's integrated library system (ILS), including all modules and the public interface; participates in the selection, installation, and upgrade of ILS hardware and software and evaluates, diagnoses and resolves hardware and software problems; integrates third party products into the ILS and assists in the development and maintenance of resources that are accessed remotely; provides ILS support and training to library staff; develops training and procedural manuals; creates and distributes customized reports; work requires the operation of a computer and peripheral equipment; works evening and weekends as assigned and performs other duties as assigned.



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



Demonstrated knowledge and experience with integrated library systems (Innovative Interfaces, Sierra preferred) and web discovery platforms; self-starter with knowledge of library applications and technologies; ability to logically troubleshoot system and application level issues; knowledge of available and emerging technologies and their application to library services; knowledge and experience with front-end design (GUI) and usability, relational database querying (SQL), standard web programming languages (HTML, CSS, XLM, JavaScript), and other programming languages. A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field required; a Master of Library and Information Science is desirable.
