[OPLINTECH] email not delivered

Thank you Karl. This gives me something to look into in addition to/beyond endlessly looking through blacklists. By the by Chad, I got a good laugh about the end of your response, however, I also don’t think I’ve ever seen this behavior from any of the oplin lists, and thinking about what Karl said, both lists where I’ve had this problem are hosted by the same entity, which definitely gives me something to go on.
To make sure I am specific enough to Chad’s question, the behavior is like this:
If I send an email to the list from O365, many/most recipients receive the email, some never do
If I send an email to the list from gmail, everyone receives it every time I have tried.
I know their list is sending them as “From listservname at listservdomain.org<mailto:listservname at listservdomain.org> on behalf of yada yada yada” so they are at least partially doing that correctly..
Again, thank you Karl.
Have a good everyone.

Joe,
My bet is that the problem lies in the way that the listserv server is sending the mail, and how that interacts with the anti-spoofing protections for your domain.
Microsoft hosted mail will be using SPF protection to white list allowed sender ips, and DKIM to sign outgoing emails with a private key so that receiving servers can verify that the message hasn't been modified in transit.
The kicker with listservs is that they often send the email "From" your address (against your SPF rules) and then slightly modify the email before redistributing it (breaking the DKIM signature).
On the OPLIN listservs I've modified the server behavior so that the "From" address is "oplintech at lists.oplin.org<mailto:oplintech at lists.oplin.org>", and the DKIM signature is scrubbed from the email (which still technically passes, but is considered fishy).
If this is the case it's something the listserv administrator will need to handle.

Good day everyone,
I’ve noticed a situation and I was wondering if anyone else has seen this/has a good idea for a solution.
I have found over the last year or more that when I send emails from my library account to some lists that some individuals on the lists are not seeing my emails, only the replies to them from other list members.
In the two particular cases where I am certain this has happened, both individuals who were not getting the originals were in academic libraries at relatively small colleges. In one of those two cases, the recipient I know had more general technical knowledge than I do, which makes me think this isn’t just people not knowing how to find their spam folder.
My email is setup through Microsoft’s Office 365 Educational (I think they call the level “E1”), which is freely available to public libraries level. In the most recent case, I have looked at least a few blacklist searches for our domain as well as our primary oplin IP address, and both show up as not listed.
Does anyone have any other thoughts on what is going on, or how to solve this? I know that I could setup a gmail account and everyone would see it, but I hate to dump a portion of my work communications onto a personal account or maintain multiple work email accounts because of some vagary with O365..
Thank you for any insights. Have a good day.
Joe
