Ideally, patrons would receive the same amount of free pages on Mobile Print or using the public workstations at the branches. We spoke about the database with Envisionware and had the following concerns with using that solution.
· It would require us to clear out some data manually
· It would not allow for free printing for mobile printing jobs since those are not stored/retrieved by library card number. Even if the customer has a card we couldn’t “apply” it to their mobile printing job.
· If new customers get a card, they have to be added by PC Reservation (when they login for first time)
· The configuration would have to be done on the backroom PCs at every location, on the LPT1 machines, and within the ecommerce server configurations.
o Risk of misconfiguring
o Had problems with normal set up of ecommerce
· Risk and PCI review would be needed as customer cards would be assigned a certain amount of money daily.

Hi Scott,
Are you looking for a "mobile" print solution (where patrons could bring their own device or print from home) with patron limits?
Envisionware's PC Reservation and LPT Print solution can automatically interface with most ILS' to automatically create a database record when a Patron logs into a PC running the software. Parameters can be set on the Authentication Accounting Module database to credit patrons a certain dollar amount that expires each day, anything above that could be handled with a coin tower or other procedure to refill the account balance. A cost per print can also be specified.
I'm not sure if you have a similar configuration in place now but you are having difficulties with the database for unregistered users?
Thanks,
Tim

Could any locations offering free printing share what solutions you implemented? We have been asked to provide free printing up to a certain amount.
The customer software we use, Envisionware, cannot limit free printing per day without creating a database containing customer information. Without the database, we can offer a certain about of free printing per job rather than per customer card. We want a solution that limits each customer to a certain amount of free pages per day. Once they have met their daily limit, they would need to pay for the remaining pages or wait until the next day.
