The State Library's Guiding Ohio Online<https://library.ohio.gov/services-for-libraries/library-programs-development/guiding-ohio-online/> program, which targets rural populations throughout Ohio, helps Ohioans develop digital skills needed to fully participate in the digital world. The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent closing of libraries, schools, and businesses have deepened the divide for broadband access and underscored the need for digital literacy skills to survive and thrive. Digital skills are necessary and required to navigate websites for relief benefits, and to prepare for and seek employment. This is a reminder that applications are now being accepted for public libraries in Ohio that serve rural populations to host a Guiding Ohio Online Technology Trainer. Trainers will serve in selected libraries during the program year, October 1, 2020 - September 30, 2021.
Changes in the application this year include an online-only submission process, new questions, and an updated proposed budget form. A list of application questions, required proposed budget form, and signature page for the Guiding Ohio Online application can be found here. <https://library.ohio.gov/services-for-libraries/library-programs-development/guiding-ohio-online/#About> Applications are due by 11:59 p.m., May 15, 2020.
A list of current and former libraries participating in Guiding Ohio Online is available on our website at library.ohio.gov/services-for-libraries/library-programs-development/guiding-ohio-online/<https://library.ohio.gov/services-for-libraries/library-programs-development/guiding-ohio-online/>.
