The Tuscarawas County Public Library System is seeking a motivated individual who will assume the role of Bolivar Branch Supervisor.
Position(s):
Bolivar Branch Supervisor
Status:
40 hours per week
Salary:
$15/hour plus benefits including vacation, holiday, and sick leave; OPERS retirement; life insurance; eligible for insurance
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred; supervisory and/or library experience preferred; experience with library research; may be required to load, unload, lift, shelve, transfer and/or transport materials up to 50 lbs including cargo and bookdrop and occasional work with materials weighing more than 50 lbs; provide own transportation in fulfillment of job duties; be available evenings and weekends with a high level of flexibility to meet community needs.
Job Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Branch Supervisor will provide a full range of services to library customers through direct service and supervision of branch staff while ensuring programs and services are in accordance with the library’s mission and initiatives. Duties include but are not limited to:
* Provides exemplary customer service to customers by answering directional and reference questions, providing reader’s advisory services, locating materials, and processing customer requests
* Instructs customers and staff on use of library’s computers, devices, and e-resources including databases and downloadables; stays current on use of new library resources
* Implements the weeding of the branch collection and conducts inventory of materials
* Takes a proactive approach with customer service by anticipating needs and building relationships within the community to advance the mission of the library
* Participates in library system long-range planning, goal-setting, and development and implementation of policies and procedures
* Makes collection recommendations to the Technical Services Supervisor to help maintain collections that are responsive, balanced, and current
* Participates in the hiring, evaluation, and training of branch staff; ensures that staff performs duties according to standardized procedures and implements library policies
* Delegates tasks among branch staff members
* Schedules, approves leave, and verifies staff payroll timesheets
Job Requirements:
* Excellent oral and written communication skills; listening and interpersonal skills; organizational skills; public speaking skills
* Computer knowledge including Internet searching, familiar with Microsoft Word, e-mail skills, data entry, basic technology troubleshooting, and file management
* Comfortable with Mobile Technology
* Tablets, eReaders, laptop
