These kits are perfect for enhancing your summer programming and can help bring engaging, hands-on space science experiences to your community. Public libraries can request them at any time—learn more and submit your request on the State Library of Ohio’s website<https://library.ohio.gov/libraries/library-programs-and-development/nasa-at-my-library/nasa-at-my-library>.

The Sun-Earth-Moon Connections Kit <https://library.ohio.gov/libraries/library-programs-and-development/nasa-at-my-library/kit-sun-earth-moon-connections>focuses on activities and experiences that better help patrons understand their place in space and how the Sun and Moon impact our planet. Major content areas in this kit include: modeling both lunar and solar eclipses with easy to use tools, detecting ultraviolet light in a creative way, using sorting cards to explore concepts relating to size, distance, and temperature, and an experiential activity that allows for a greater understanding of the vast scale of our Solar System.

The Be a NASA Detective: Expanding Your Senses Kit<https://library.ohio.gov/libraries/library-programs-and-development/nasa-at-my-library/kit-be-a-nasa-detective> focuses on activities and experiences that help patrons be more comfortable using tools of science and making predictions based on their observations. This kit focuses on things we cannot see with our normal senses.

The Younger Audience Kit<https://library.ohio.gov/libraries/library-programs-and-development/nasa-at-my-library/kit-younger-audience> provides activities geared at younger audiences such as elementary age students. While the kit is designed for younger audiences, the kit may be used for all age groups. Although this kit was created for the 2024 eclipse, the activities and tools can be used for safe solar viewing in any program and to talk about the daily rotation of the earth and moon around the sun.

The Multi-Generational Programming Kit<https://library.ohio.gov/libraries/library-programs-and-development/nasa-at-my-library/kit-multi-generational-programming> is designed to help your library provide programs for all age groups. While this kit was created with the 2024 eclipse in mind, the Sunoculars and solar telescope can be used for safe viewing of the sun at any time. Programming materials can be used as conversation starters about the universe and the earth’s rotations within it.
