Take 5: "REVO" - the Re-evolution of Teen Services

What does it look like to be a teen librarian in 2026? Readers' Advisory is not the top thing on our mind. Join us in Akron to explore the evolving role of libraries and how teens are using libraries as a third space to meet and socialize, access technology, and receive support and information for their journeys to employment, college, career, and a promising future.

Take 5 attendees will learn about Mentor Mindset, consider timely intellectual freedom strategies, hear from teens about their perspectives on AI, and use the Power of Play to foster joy in young people. Where better than Akron, the home of seminal new wave band DEVO, to celebrate REVO - the Re-evolution of teen services!

Take 5 is a day of dialogue and discovery for public library teen and youth services specialists, school librarians, and other youth advocates. Take 5 is a peer-to-peer event, planned and produced by collaborating librarians with support from host libraries. Take 5 is also supported by the State Library of Ohio with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The 2026 event is hosted and cosponsored by Akron-Summit County Public Library.
