The State Library of Ohio Board recently awarded a combined total of $2,137,403 in federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grants for the Libraries Connect Ohio core set of databases known as Ohio Web Library, eighteen public libraries to hire Guiding Ohio Online technology trainers, and Ohio Library for the Blind and Print Disabled to supplement state funding.

The approved grants include:

  * $234,000 to support the operation of Ohio Library for the Blind and Print Disabled<https://library.ohio.gov/home/news-and-events/all-news/state-library-board-awards-olbpd-grant-2026>
  * Over $368,000 for eighteen public libraries in Ohio that serve rural communities to employ a dedicated technology trainer through the Guiding Ohio Online grant program <https://library.ohio.gov/home/news-and-events/all-news/18-libraries-goo-grants-2026>

Additional funding and in-kind support for the Ohio Web Library is provided by Libraries Connect Ohio partners OhioLINK, OPLIN, and INFOhio.

The Ohio LSTA Grant Program is funded through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), an independent federal agency, through its Grants to States program. Funding for IMLS is included in the federal Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies appropriations bill. The U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee is expected to mark up this legislation later this week, with consideration by the full House Appropriations Committee scheduled for next week.
