Second Lady Usha Vance invites students in grades K-8 to participate in her Summer Reading Challenge. From June 1 through September 4, students are encouraged to read 12 books and keep their minds active all summer long. Participants will be eligible for prizes and a chance to visit Washington D.C. The challenge aims to foster a lifelong appreciation for reading, build strong literacy skills, and help students head back to school confident and prepared. Second Lady Vance encourages you to champion the young readers in your life and share this opportunity within your library and school community.

Attached is a robust media kit (logos and fliers).  The attached 2026 SLOTUS SRC Form.pdf is NOT yet available online, and it was requested that it not be shared or posted until June 1.

The media attached kit is available for immediate use.

The Summer Reading Challenge updated website includes a new element for 2026 - a state-by-state leader board, to indicate which state has submitted the most entries to the program.
