[SEO-Members] Ohio Collections Analysis Initiative Updates and Upcoming Webinar

TeachingBooks and the State Library of Ohio recently conducted a user survey for those who are registered for the Ohio Collections Analysis Initiative. The feedback was helpful as we plan future communications, webinars, and resources.

Looking to the future, here are some announcements:


  *   Registration:
·        If you aren’t sure if you are registered or can’t find your account information, email help at teachingbooks.net<mailto:help at teachingbooks.net>. ·        If you are registered but have not been receiving emails with Initiative updates and training opportunities, the emails may be going to your spam folder. All these communications will be sent from help at TeachingBooks.net<mailto:help at TeachingBooks.net>.

  *   In partnership with Teaching Books, the State Library of Ohio provides webinars in the late winter/early spring and fall seasons.  We have an extensive collection of recorded webinars on our YouTube channel<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUcENXDxTag&list=PL4hyEKW4NMXj5rrIVh7xif5gVrgoW9_hC>.

  *   We are looking to form a small advisory group of users to share more information about how they use the tool. Please respond to this email if you are interested!   The advisory group will not be a huge time commitment.

Upcoming webinar:

Getting Started with the Ohio Collections Analysis Initiative on June 16 at 3:30 p.m.  At the 45-minute webinar, participants will learn the basics of the tool including how to analyze the children’s and young adult books in your collections, programs, displays, and more. Attendees will leave prepared to integrate these tools into their collection management routines.

The Ohio Collection Analysis Initiative<https://library.ohio.gov/libraries/training-and-development/ohio-collection-analysis-initiative/ohio-collection-analysis-initiative> launched in 2022 and gave Ohio library staff exclusive access to an original, self-paced, collection analysis initiative for considering collections that empower children and young adult readers by respecting and appreciating what makes them different and the same. This initiative provides the tools, time, and support to consider your library’s print collections for children and young adults.
