[SEO-Members] Ten Institutions Awarded Ohio LSTA Conservation and Preservation Grants

The State Library of Ohio has awarded $48,627 in federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds to ten Ohio libraries as Conservation and Preservation Grants.  In partnership with the Ohio Preservation Council, the goal of this grant initiative is to support the conservation of historical objects in the libraries' collections. Conservation/Preservation Grants enable libraries to conserve a single item or preserve a small discrete group of items within their collections. Eligible Institutions may request up to $4,999 and primarily use the funds to contract a professional conservator or conservation lab to preserve the materials and ensure best practices in conservation.

"Libraries across the state are often a treasure trove of distinctive collections and artifacts, many of which celebrate unique Ohio stories and our state's role in American history, as this year's grantees affirm," expressed Evan T. Struble, Associate State Librarian for Library Development. "I appreciate the representatives from the Ohio Preservation Council   who collaborated closely with State Library staff to provide essential training for grant applicants before the application process, as well as their guidance during the review. I eagerly anticipate witnessing the completed conservation efforts next year.
The ten institutions awarded the grant are Bluffton University's Musselman Library, Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library, Germantown Public Library, Hudson Library and Historical Society, Kenyon College's Chalmers Library, Oak Harbor Public Library, Ohio Lesbian Archives, Ohio University, Ohio Wesleyan University Libraries, and Rocky River Public Library.
