[SEO-Updates] SEO Consortium Hold Update - 3/3/2022

Greetings.

Beginning March 7, 2022, holds placed prior to 2/28/2022 will be converted to group range holds* until after the transition to Priority Dispatch. Previously, only new holds were being converted, and older holds remained at the system range*.

The SEO Team took several factors into consideration while making this decision.

  *   The number of items being received from transit is consistently less than what is being put into transit.
     *   By limiting only new holds, we hoped to remedy this issue. However, the difference has been minimal.
  *   There are over 180,000 items in transit which is about three-times higher than the January-June 2021 average.
  *   Only a small portion of the system range holds (3,500) have been filled since Monday.

Once this change is implemented:

  *   Items currently in transit for a hold will fill the hold when received.
  *   OnShelf lists will only show libraries in your hold group*.
     *   Occasionally, some items may appear that do not belong to your hold group. Please ignore them.
  *   The OnShelf list will be updated at the top of every hour.
  *   Staff and patrons can continue placing holds on items not belonging to your hold group.

*Definitions

Group Range Hold: Only items belonging to libraries in a hold group will fill a group range hold.

System Range Hold: Any available item in SEO system can fill a system range hold.

Hold Group: A hold group is typically your library and branches. If you have created a local cooperative during this transition, the cooperative is your hold group.
