[SEO-Updates] Request That Windows Defender be Upgraded

The SEO consortia has around 50 libraries that are only using Windows Defender as their sole antivirus on computers running the Workflows software

SEO Service Center requests that all library computers running the Workflows software have a dedicated, fully featured antivirus program that is regularly updated and maintained to ensure the security of the Consortia database.

While Windows Defender is built into all Windows operating systems, this version is not a full-fledged antivirus program and lacks the capabilities needed to handle today's evolving cybersecurity threats.

In the past, relying solely on Windows Defender may have been sufficient, but with advancements in AI-driven hacking and automated cyber threats, additional protection is now essential.

 Current best cybersecurity practices recommend using a robust antivirus solution alongside Windows Defender to provide comprehensive system protection.

Although having antivirus protection on all library computers is advisable, SEO Service Center specifically requests that computers running Workflows software be equipped with a full-featured antivirus program.

 Below are some of the leading antivirus solutions available today but there are others not listed:

  *   Avast Business
  *   Bitdefender GravityZone Business Security
  *   ESET Protec Advanced
  *   McAfee Total Protection for Business
  *   Microsoft Defender for Business
  *   Norton Small Business
  *   Sophos Intercept
  *   Symantec Endpoint
  *   Trend Micro
  *   Webroot


Implementation Deadline:

 We request that libraries have a full-featured antivirus installed by the end of July 2025 on machines running the Workflows software.

 If you need assistance selecting or maintaining an antivirus solution, SEO Service Center offers installation, monitoring, and maintenance of Symantec antivirus software for your library. This service includes:

  *   Installation and configuration of a full-fledged antivirus software client
  *   Regular monitoring and maintenance
  *   Scheduled system scans
  *   Regular security reports

The cost for this service is $50 per device- per year.
