New Planning for Results Long Range Planning Workshops

The State Library of Ohio will present long range planning workshops at
several sites across the state.
*	July 8 at the office of the OVAL Regional Library Systems, Wellston,
Ohio
*	July 19 at the NORWELD office, Bowling Green, Ohio
*	July 22 at the MOLO office, Newcomerstown, Ohio
*	August 9 at OHIONET, Columbus, Ohio
*	August 24 at the Geauga West Branch Library in Chesterland, Ohio
*	Possible September presentation at the SOLO office, Caldwell, Ohio

State Library Consultants Jan Haines and Rebecca Felkner will conduct the
day-long workshops (9:30am - 3:30pm) on the long range planning process New
Planning for Results (NPFR). Library administration and trustees are
encouraged to attend but all library staff is welcome.

The workshops are an outgrowth of the free long range planning assistance
that the State Library offers to Ohio libraries. Consultants Haines and
Felkner are certified NPFR trainers and facilitators. They have attended
Public Library Association sponsored seminars on the topic of
train-the-trainer and facilitating the New Planning for Results taught by
library consultant Sandra Nelson, the creator of the New Planning for
Results process. Haines and Felkner have facilitated several planning
processes for Ohio libraries.

The New Planning for Results is a streamlined long range planning process
especially designed for libraries. The process is driven largely by
determining the needs of the community and choosing library service
priorities to meet those needs. By focusing on the community's needs, your
library will be able to allocate resources wisely. Highlights of the NPFR
process are its short time line for completion, its use as a marketing tool
to generate support for the library, its adaptability and ease of
implementation.

During the New Planning for Results workshop, attendees will gain an
understanding of the entire process and how to conduct the NPFR process at
their own libraries.

Registration at each workshop is $15. To register for a workshop, please
visit http://www.slocem.lib.oh.us/ and choose the workshop you'd like to
attend.

For further information about the New Planning for Results workshops,
contact Rebecca Felkner at rfelkner@sloma.state.oh.us.
