October 17 Introduction to Anime and Manga for All
Anime and Manga mania is everywhere and appeals to everyone from adults to
children. Yet most staff don't know much abut these graphic imports - even
their most ardent fans. Author and Anime/Manga expert Gilles Poitras will
cover the history of the two mediums, the major genres, gender specific
works and American fan culture. Special considerations in collection
development, shelving and cataloging will also be covered. Come one, come
all. This workshop is for catalogers, selectors, public service staff, and
all those interested in learning about this current craze.
