Author and Sportswriter Terry Pluto To Visit TCPL

The Tuscarawas County Public Library will be sponsoring an evening with
award-winning Cleveland Plain Dealer sports journalist Terry Pluto on
Thursday, January 15th at 7:00 PM.  Best known for his sports writing on
the Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians Pluto has twice been honored by the
Associated Press Sports Editors as the nation's top sports columnist for
medium-sized newspapers. He is a nine-time winner of the Ohio Sports
Writer of the Year award and has twice been nominated for a Pulitzer
Prize. In 2005 was Pluto was inducted into the Cleveland Journalism Hall
of Fame.  He is the author of twenty-three  books, including The Curse of
Rocky Colavito (selected by The New York Times as one of the five notable
sports books of 1989), and Loose Balls, which was ranked number 13 on
Sports Illustrated’s list of the top100 sports books of all time.  The
author of two collections on faith and religion, in 2003 Pluto received an
Amy Writing Award for “skillful writing that presents in a sensitive,
thought-provoking manner the biblical position on issues affecting the
world today.”  His most recent book, The Franchise, is an in-depth look at
how a team and a city are being rebuilt around local legend LeBron James. 
This book will fascinate any basketball fan who wants the inside story of
how James became the young superstar shouldering the weight of an entire
NBA franchise.

Refreshments and a book signing will follow the program, which will be
held Thursday, January 15th at 7:00 PM in the downstairs fellowship hall
of the First United Methodist Church located at 201 West High Avenue in
New Philadelphia.  Admission is free and all are welcome.  This event is
