Director
Manage all library operations, planning for library growth, both strategically and long range, set policies for the library with BOT approval, propose to the board and administer the yearly budget.  Manage personnel, develop print and non-print collections, develop programs, original cataloging as necessary,  serve as liaison to local governmental agencies within the service area and the friends of the Library Group, outreach to the larger community.  Serve the Mission of the GAPL.

Qualifications
A Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university plus five to ten years of progressively responsible library administration experience.
Commitment to the mission and philosophy of public library service.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
*         Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public library functions.
*         Good knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration as applied to a major library service.
*         Considerable ability in oral and written communications.
*         Excellent leadership skills.
*         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*         Ability to work effectively with library trustees, elected officials, and community groups.
*         Ability to supervise and motivate library staff and volunteers.

GREENVILLE AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY -

Founded in 1921, the Greenville Area Public Library serves the residents of Greenville Borough and the Townships of Hempfield and West Salem in Mercer County, with a full-time staff of four, one part-time and a number of volunteers.  The library is open 45 hours each week and has a dynamic program, which has grown dramatically in the past five years.  The annual budget of $279,000 is supported by state and local funds as well as a $6.4 million endowment, ensuring that our programs for the community are funded.
