YOUTH LIBRARIAN, LEPPER LIBRARY, LISBON, OHIO

Lepper Library seeks a highly motivated individual to join our team as
Youth Librarian. The successful candidate will work closely with the
Library’s Director in providing creative and innovative approaches to
library services for children and families.  Duties include but are not
limited to the following:

·       Plan, coordinate, order and maintain collections of materials for
children & teens

·        Plan, promote, execute, and evaluate children’s and teen
programming based on sound child development principles, current
educational practices, emerging technologies, and popular youth trends

·        Promotes use of the collection by students, adults and teachers,
including library visits by school classes and preschools, conferences with
teachers, outreach programs and teen groups

·        Provide reader’s advisory, reference and library instructional
training

·        Plan and administer the children’s and teen’s budgets including
funds for materials, and programs

·        Identifies outside sources of funding and writes effective grant
applications related to children and teen materials and services

·        Demonstrates a positive attitude and supports library goals and
objectives

 This position requires an MLS or MLIS Degree or equivalent experience as a
youth librarian in a library.  The candidate must have solid knowledge of
computer skills, social media, emerging technologies, digital formats and
the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.  A strong
customer service philosophy is important including a personality that
connects well with children and teens.  Having self-motivation and the
ability to prioritize varied tasks is necessary. Also, being able to
effectively network and represent the library to children, parents,
educators, and businesses.

This position is full-time, 32 hours per week and includes some evening and
Saturday work.  The starting salary is $15.50 per hour with a $.50 increase
after the six month probationary period and a favorable evaluation.  The
position also includes vacation and sick leave.
