[OPLINLIST] Home Bound Deliveries- Policy

We don't do personal home deliveries but we have a books by mail program.
Our program is limited to people who are permanently homebound for some
reason. We qualify people over the phone and usually take their word for
the fact that they can not physically come into the library.
One stipulation of our program is that they surrender their old library
card and are issued a new one, which we keep at our office. They can use
their card number to utilize our e-resources but lose the option of
coming into the library on their own.
I feel like this stipulation is rather harsh, but it seems to ensure that
only people who are truly unable to come to the library will enroll.

We don't have a true limit of items but usually only send what will fit in
our mailing bags. That's about 8 to 10 books or probably 15 dvds (our
max/card.) We will also send audiobooks and cds and I even have one woman
who signs up for our adult craft programs and I send them to her in the
mailing pouch when they're available.

Hope this helps.
