[OPLINTECH] Android tablet kiosk software for PAC's

I don't recall whose recommendation it was, but we installed the trial version of SureFox for testing and it seems to be working quite well.


Easy to install and set up, no more difficult than configuring IE or Chrome. A bit clunky to navigate the menus and settings, but not too confusing.


If you have multiple devices, the program also allows you to save settings to the cloud so once you get your initial device set up, you can import the same setup on multiple devices.


Pretty handy overall.

We've been going with the strategy of repurposing ancient, all-but-useless computers with free Porteus Kiosk installed. It's a simple solution and works quite well. Using tablets as kiosks does provide a clean/small footprint solution, though. So that definitely has its advantages too, albeit at the cost of more hardware expense and IT time.

Was wondering if Any IT people for their library system could elaborate more on a kiosk software they used to lock down Android tablets for using them as PAC’s? We’re looking at the possibility of using Samsung Galaxy tab’s for our PAC’s in the near future. Would like to know the product you use and pros/cons to the product software. Thoughts?
